About our books series

The IHR publishes three series of research-based scholarly books:

  • The IHR Conference Series includes edited collections of essays, often - but not always - resulting from academic conferences.
  • With the Royal Historical Society, we publish New Historical Perspectives, a series of monographs and collections specifically for early career historians.
  • Shorter forms of historical writing are published as IHR Shorts, a new series format that encourages experimental approaches, and pieces that are longer than a traditional journal article but more concise than a monograph.

Titles in these series are published in print, ebook and as free Open Access, and as part of the new University London Press.

With Manchester University Press, we also publish IHR Research Guides, providing introductions to historical research in key sub-disciplines.
