All are welcome to this belated book launch and discussion of Adam Sutcliffe’s What Are Jews For? History, Peoplehood and Purpose (Princeton University Press, 2020). This book offers a wide-ranging exploration of Western thinking, from the seventeenth century to the present, on the purpose of the Jewish people in the past, present and future.

Professor David Feldman (Birkbeck) and Professor Miri Rubin (Queen Mary) will each offer brief comments on the book. Adam Sutcliffe (King’s) will then respond, and we will then open to the floor for a general discussion of the issues raised. Immediately following the seminar, at around 6.30 pm, all attendees are invited to an informal drinks reception, generously supported by the King’s History Department.

Please note that this session will be taking place in-person only at KCL, and that the number of places available is limited.

All welcome- this event is free to attend but advance registration is required.
